In the New Edition of “Qatar; Monthly Statistics” Bulletin A Monthly Rise of 0.7% in Currency Issued Compared To November 2019; 1.2% Annual Increase Compared To December 2018

​The Planning and Statistics Authority has released the 72th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis.  In this issue, we highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during  December 2019 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2015 Census.

 


The most prominent change in this issue is the increase in total new drivers licenses and total new vehicles registered at an annual rate of 10.8% and 14.3%, respectively (compared to December 2018), offset by a decrease in total traffic violations at an annual rate of 7.2% (compared to December 2018). Also, this month witnessed a drop in traffic accident deaths at an annual rate of 14.3% (compared to December 2018).

 


The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has increased from 2.67 million during December 2018 to  2.69 million at end of  December 2019.
Regarding to Vital Statistics, 2376 live births have been registered during December 2019. Also, An increase in the total Qatari live births by 0.2% compared to last month. On the other hand, 195 deaths were recorded during the same period, a  decrease of 3.0% compared to November 2019.


Moreover, December 2019 has witnessed a monthly increase in marriage contracts by 7.9% While it witnessed a monthly decrease in divorce certificates by 1.8%.  The total number of marriage contracts was 315 contracts, whereas the total No. of divorces has reached 109 divorce cases; namely, one divorce for every 3 marriages.
As for the Social Security statements, reached 86 Million Qatari Riyals in December 2019, for 15696 beneficiaries.

 


Total electricity consumption during December 2019 was 2808.4 GWh attaining a monthly decrease of 13.5% and an annual rise of 34.4%. While the total water consumption has reached 52335.8 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly decrease of 3.7% and an annual rise of 51.8%.

 

 
Regarding the data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 650 permits during December 2019, recording a monthly decrease of 3.4%.
Traffic accidents cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 638 traffic cases were recorded during December 2019, showing a monthly increase of 4.9%. Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents cases during the same month, with 86%, followed by severe injuries by 11%. However, 16 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 3% of total traffic accidents cases.

 


The total number of registered new vehicles during December 2019 has reached 6017 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly increase of 5.7% and an annual increase of 14.3%.
As for the Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 578.0 Billion Qatari Riyals during December 2019, an annual increase of 2.5% compared with December 2018. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 849.1 Billion Qatari Riyals during December 2019. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 4.8% compared to December 2018, when deposits recorded approximately 810.3 Billion Qatari Riyals.
