The Planning and Statistics Authority has released the 69th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis. In this issue, we highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during September 2019 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2015 Census.
The most prominent change in this issue is the rise in the total number and value of sold properties at a monthly rate of 151.2% and 47.4 %, respectively (compared to August 2019), and at an annual rate of 16.6% and 12.2%, respectively (compared to September 2018). In addition, this month also witnessed an increase in total electricity generated and total water produced at an annual rate of 24.6% and 50.7%, respectively (compared to September 2018).
The demographic statistics showed that the total population of Qatar has increased from 2.72 million during September 2018 to 2.75 million at end of September 2019, an annual increase of 1.1%.
Regarding to Vital Statistics, 2241 live births has been registered during September 2019, a 9.7% increase compared to August 2019. An increase in the total Qatari live births by 7.6% compared to last month. On the other hand, 188 deaths were recorded during the same period, an increase of 21.3% compared to August 2019.
Moreover, September 2019 has experienced an increase in marriage contracts and divorce certificates. The total number of marriage contracts was 286 contracts, whereas the total No. of divorces has reached 121 divorce cases; namely, one divorce for every 2 marriages.
Social Security statements, reached 86.064 thousand Qatari Riyals in September 2019, for 15735 beneficiaries.
Total electricity consumption during September 2019 was 5053.1 GWh attaining a monthly decrease of 4.8% and an annual rise of 23.2%. While the total water consumption has reached 58069.1 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly decrease of 1.5% and an annual rise of 51.5%.
The data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 758 permits during September 2019, recording a monthly increase of 82.7%.
Traffic accidents cases, a total of 540 traffic cases were recorded during September 2019, showing a monthly increase of 23.0%. Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents during the same month, with 87%, followed by severe injuries by 11%. However, 12 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 2% of total traffic accidents.
The total number of registered new vehicles during September 2019 has reached 5921 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly increase of 49.1% and an annual increase of 19.6%.
For Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 569.9 Billion Qatari Riyals during September 2019, an annual increase of 0.8% compared with September 2018. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 831.7 Billion Qatari Riyals during September 2019. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 1.7% compared to September 2018, when deposits recorded approximately 817.8 Billion Qatari Riyals.
