The Planning and Statistics Authority has released the 88th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis. In this issue, we highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during April 2021 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2015 Census.
Among the prominent changes in this Issue is a decrease in total traffic violations by 10.5% compared to March 2021, while they increased annually by 239.0%, compared to April 2020, versus a decrease in total traffic accident cases at a monthly rate of 17.6%, compared to March 2021, while they increased annually by 53.5%, compared to April 2020.
Among the other prominent changes are an increase in total number of live births (Qataris), by a monthly rate of 3.8%, compared to March 2021, and an annual increase of 205.9%, compared to April 2020. In addition, the number of male Qatari marriage contracts increased annually by 103.2%, compared to April 2020, and the number of female Qatari marriage contracts increased annually by 111.6%, compared to April 2020.
The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has decreased from 2.81 million during April 2020 to 2.65 million at end of April 2021.
Regarding to Vital Statistics, 1687 live births have been registered during April 2021. Also, an increase in the total Qatari live births by 3.8% compared to last month. On the other hand, 395 deaths were recorded during the same period, an increase of 58.0% compared to March 2021.
Moreover, April 2021 has experienced a monthly decrease by 8.3% and 15.3% respectively in marriage contracts and divorce certificates. The total number of marriage contracts was 342 contracts, whereas the total No. of divorces has reached 149 divorce cases.
As for the Social Security statements, reached 81 Million Qatari Riyals in April 2021, for 14657 beneficiaries, Recording a monthly decrease of 2.8% for the value of social security and a monthly decrease of 0.2% for the number of beneficiaries of Social Security.
Total electricity consumption during April 2021 was 3516.5 GWh attaining a monthly increase of 16.3% and an annual increase of 10.3%. While the total water consumption has reached 53920.8 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly decrease of 0.9% and an annual increase of 4.6%.
Regarding the data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 500 permits during April 2021, recording a monthly decrease of 58.1% and an annual rise of 3.5%.
Traffic accidents cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 505 traffic cases were recorded during April 2021, showing a monthly decrease of 17.6% and an annual increase by 53.5%. Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents cases during the same month, with 90%, followed by severe injuries by 8%. However, 9 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 2% of total traffic accidents cases.
The total number of registered new vehicles during April 2021 has reached 4734 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly decrease of 11.4% and an annual increase of 86.7%.
As for the Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 597.9 Billion Qatari Riyals during April 2021, an annual increase of 2.3% compared with April 2020. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 943.5 Billion Qatari Riyals during April 2021. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 7.3% compared to April 2020, when deposits recorded approximately 879.3 Billion Qatari Riyals.
