The Planning and Statistics Authority has released the 97th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis. In this issue, we highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during January 2022 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2020 Census.
One of the most prominent changes in this issue is the rise in the total online interaction via the e-Government portal “Hukoomi” at a monthly rate of 14.6% (compared to December 2021), and at an annual rate of 4.6% (compared to January 2021).
Another notable change is the increase in total number of new registered vehicles at a monthly rate of 10.7% along with the increase of total traffic violations at 9.2% (compared to December 2021). On the other hand, total traffic accidents declined at a monthly rate of 14.4%; however, traffic accidents deaths increased at a monthly rate of 63.6 % (compared to December 2021) and at an annual rate of 12.5% (compared to January 2021).
The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has increased from 2.67 million during January 2021 to 2.79 million at end of January 2022.
Regarding to Vital Statistics, 1763 live births have been registered during January 2022. Also, a decrease in the total Qatari live births by 5.2% compared to last month. On the other hand, 292 deaths were recorded during the same period, an increase of 57.8% compared to December 2021.
Moreover, January 2022 has experienced a monthly decrease by 34.7% and 19.8% in marriage contracts and divorce certificates respectively. The total number of marriage contracts was 263 contracts, whereas the total No. of divorces has reached 154 divorce cases.
As for the Social Security statements, reached 80 Million Qatari Riyals in January 2022, for 14240 beneficiaries, Recording a monthly increase of 1.3% for the value of social security and a monthly increase of 0.9% for the number of beneficiaries of Social Security.
Total electricity consumption during January 2022 was 2734.1 GWh attaining a monthly decrease of 8.0% and an annual increase of 6.7%. While the total water consumption has reached 51261.9 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly decrease of 4.1% and an annual increase of 2.1%.
As for the Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 611.9 Billion Qatari Riyals during January 2022, an annual increase of 2.6% compared with January 2021. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 960.2 Billion Qatari Riyals during January 2022. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 6.6% compared to January 2021, when deposits recorded approximately 901.1 Billion Qatari Riyals.
Regarding the data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 759 permits during January 2022, recording a monthly increase of 12.9% and an annual decrease of 45.1%.
The total number of registered new vehicles during January 2022 has reached 7983 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly increase of 10.7% and an annual increase of 46.0%.
Traffic accidents cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 717 traffic cases were recorded during January 2022, showing a monthly decrease of 14.4% and an annual increase by 8.5%. Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents cases during the same month, with 89%, followed by severe injuries by 9%. However, 17 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 2% of total traffic accidents cases.
