The Planning and Statistics Authority has released the 94th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis. In this issue, we highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during October 2021 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2020 Census.
One of the prominent changes in this issue is the increase in total deposits and total credit at an annual rate of 10.2% and 7.4%, respectively (compared to October 2020), in addition to an increase in total Qatari live births and total non- Qatari live births at a monthly rate of 5.3% and 11.1%, respectively (compared to September 2021).
Among the other prominent changes is the increase in total new driving licenses by 5.3% (compared to September 2021), versus an increase in total traffic violations and total traffic accidents, at a monthly rate of 15.1% and 17.0%, respectively (compared to September 2021).
The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has decreased from 2.72 million during October 2020 to 2.66 million at end of October 2021.
Regarding to Vital Statistics, 2220 live births have been registered during October 2021. Also, an increase in the total Qatari live births by 5.3% compared to last month. On the other hand, 215 deaths were recorded during the same period, an increase of 28.0% compared to September 2021.
Moreover, October 2021 has experienced a monthly increase by 6.6% in marriage contracts while the total number of divorce certificates decreased monthly by 23.5%. The total number of marriage contracts was 387 contracts, whereas the total No. of divorces has reached 163 divorce cases.
As for the Social Security statements, reached 76 Million Qatari Riyals in October 2021, for 13788 beneficiaries, Recording a monthly decrease of 6.3% for the value of social security and a monthly decrease of 5.0% for the number of beneficiaries of Social Security.
Total electricity consumption during October 2021 was 4570.3 GWh attaining a monthly decrease of 10.3% and an annual increase of 10.0%. While the total water consumption has reached 57805.7 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly increase of 0.6% and an annual decrease of 3.1%.
As for the Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 611.5 Billion Qatari Riyals during October 2021, an annual increase of 4.9% compared with October 2020. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 965.5 Billion Qatari Riyals during October 2021. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 10.2% compared to October 2020, when deposits recorded approximately 875.7 Billion Qatari Riyals.
Regarding the data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 685 permits during October 2021, recording a monthly decrease of 6.9% and an annual decrease of 6.3%.
The total number of registered new vehicles during October 2021 has reached 6771 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly decrease of 8.4% and an annual increase of 19.3%.
Traffic accidents cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 714 traffic cases were recorded during October 2021, showing a monthly increase of 17.0% and an annual increase by 33.7%. Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents cases during the same month, with 91%, followed by severe injuries by 6%. However, 19 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 3% of total traffic accidents cases.
